A Dream Within a Dream
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow-
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand-
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep- while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
Edgar Allan Poe

Rüya İçinde Rüya
Al bu buseyi kaşın üzre sen!
Ve işte şimdi ayrılıyorken,
İzin ver itiraf edeceğim-
Yanlış değildi söylediğin
Günlerin bir rüyaydı derken;
Uçup gittiyse umut yine de
Geceleyin ya da gündüz,
Hayalde, ya da hiçbirinde
Peki kaybımdan eksilen ne?
Rüya içinde bir rüyadır
Hep gördüğümüz, göründüğümüz.
Bir uğultunun ortasındayım
Dalgaların dövdüğü bir kıyıda,
Ve avucumda tuttuğum
Altın kum taneleri-
Azlar! Ama nasıl da kayıyorlar
Derinliğe parmaklarımdan,
Ağlarken - ben ağlarken!
Tanrım! Sıkıca tutamaz mıyım
Bırakmadan avucumdan?
Tanrım! Kurtaramaz mıyım
Birini acımasız dalgadan?
Yoksa rüya içinde bir rüya mı
Hep gördüğümüz, göründüğümüz?

All Of a Sudden By Orhan Veli KANIK
ALL OF A SUDDEN
Everything happened all at once:
Daylight poured down on the earth
Suddenly there was the sky,
Suddenly blue.
Everything happened all at once;
Smoke began to rise out of the soil,
Tendrils and buds and fruits...
Everything happened all of a sudden:
Girls and boys,
Roads and meadows,cats and people...
Love come up all of a sudden
And happiness.

Annabel Lee(with translation to Turkish)
Annabel Lee
by Edgar Allan Poe
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee--
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea,
But we loved with a love that was more than love--
I and my Annabel Lee--
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me--
Yes!--that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.
But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we--
Of many far wiser than we--
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:
For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:
And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee:
And so, all the night-tide, I lay down by the side
Of my darling--my darling--my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea--
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

ANNABEL LEE
Seneler,seneler evveldi;
Bir deniz ülkesinde
Yaşayan bir kız vardı,bileceksiniz
İsmi Annabel Lee;
Hiçbir şey düşünmezdi sevilmekten
Sevmekden başka beni.
O çocuk ben çocuk,memleketimiz
O deniz ülkesiydi,
Sevdalı değil karasevdalıydık
Ben ve Annabel Lee;
Göklerde uçan melekler bile
Kıskanırdı bizi.
Bir gün işte bu yüzden göze geldi,
O deniz ülkesinde,
Üşüdü rüzgarından bir bulutun
Güzelim Annabel Lee;
Götürdüler el üstünde
Koyup gittiler beni,
Mezarı ordadır şimdi,
O deniz ülkesinde.
Biz daha bahtiyardık meleklerden
Onlar kıskandı bizi,_
Evet!_bu yüzden (şahidimdir herkes
Ve o deniz ülkesi)
Bir gece bulutun rüzgarından
Üşüdü gitti Annabel Lee.
Sevdadan yana ,kim olursa olsun,
Yaşça başca ileri
Geçemezlerdi bizi;
Ne yedi kat gökdeki melekler,
Ne deniz dibi cinleri,
Hiçbiri ayıramaz beni senden
Güzelim Annabel Lee.
Ay gelip ışır hayalin eşirir
Güzelim Annabel Lee;
Bu yıldızlar gözlerin gibi parlar
Güzelim Annabel Lee;
Orda gecelerim,uzanır beklerim
Sevgilim,sevgilim,hayatım,gelinim
O azgın sahildeki,
Yattığın yerde seni .

Everybody Knows..
Everybody Knows:
You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.
So:
You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.
Then:
You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.
Dare To Believe:
That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And you'll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

Fable
The mountain and the squirrel
Had a quarrel,
And the former called the latter, "little prig":
Bun replied,
You are doubtless very big,
But all sorts of things and weather
Must be taken in together
To make up a year,
And a sphere.
And I think it no disgrace
To occupy my place.
If I'm not so large as you,
You are not so small as I,
And not half so spry:
I'll not deny you make
A very pretty squirrel track;
Talents differ; all is well and wisely put;
If I cannot carry forests on my back,
Neither can you ***** a nut.
Ralp Waldo Emerson

Flowers are Red
The little boy went first day of school
He got some crayons and started to draw
He put colors all over the paper
For colors was what he saw
And the teacher said...What you doin', young man
I'm painting flowers he said
She said...It's not the time for art young man
And anyway flowers are green and red
There's a time for everything young man
And a way it should be done
You've got to show concern for everyone else
For you're not the only one
And she said...
Flowers are red young man
And green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen.
But the little boy said...
There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in a flower and I see every one
Well the teacher said...You're sassy
There's ways that things should be
and you'll paint flowers the way they are
So repeat after me....
And she said...
flowers are red young man
And green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen.
But the little boy said...
There are so many colors in the rainbow
So many colors in the morning sun
So many colors in a flower and I see every one
The teacher put him in a corner
she said....It's for your own good
And you won't come out until you get it right
And all responding like you should
Well finally he got lonely
Frightened thoughts filled his head
And he went up to the teacher
And this is what she said...and he said
Flowers are red, green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen
Time went by like it always does
And they moved to another town
And the little boy went to another school
And this is what he found
The teacher smiling
She said...Painting should be fun
And there are so many colors in a flower
So let's use every one
But that little boy painted flowers
In neat rows of green and red
And when the teacher asked him why
This is what he said....and he said
Flowers are red, green leaves are green
There's no need to see flowers any other way
Than the way they always have been seen

Forget Not Yet
a poem by Thomas Wyatt
Forget not yet the tried intent
Of such a truth as I have meant
My great travail so gladly spent
Forget not yet.
Forget not yet when first began
The weary life ye knew, since whan
The suit, the service, none tell can,
Forget not yet.
Forget not yet the great assays,
The cruel wrongs, the scornful ways,
The painful patience in denays
Forget not yet.
Forget not yet, forget not this,
How long ago hath been, and is,
The mind that never means amiss;
Forget not yet.
Forget not yet thine own approved,
The which so long hath thee so loved,
Whose steadfast faith yet never moved,
Forget not this.

Imagination of a guardian Angel
Friends will smile and friends will laugh,
Friends will walk a pleasant path,
Our Hugs and kisses are sent all around,
Joy and Happiness will soon be found.
There'll be no tears falling from our eyes,
And no one will spread rumours or lies,
Friends will care and trust for always,
Shine a light to brighten our darkest days.
With a gentle hand, god guides us through,
He cares and loves everyone of you,
The imagination of a guardian angel as she sleeps,
Is locked in her dreams for all safe keeps.

Mother
My memories of the sounds
And the smells of chilhood
Remind me of what you gave me
To make my life so good
When i was hurting and didnt know why
You somehow understood
That love you gave so freely
Is something i will always remember
The woman who was mother to me
Will be a part of me forever
Forever's not too long to love you
But a lifetime
Will have to do

Nazım Hikmet Ran - Invitation
INVITATION
Galloping from Far Asia and jutting out
into the Mediterranean like a mare's head
this country is ours.
Wrists in blood, teeth clenched, feet bare
and this soil spreading like a silk carpet,
this hell, this paradise is ours.
Shut the gates of plutocracy, don't let them open again,
annihilate man's servitude to man,
this invitation is ours..
To live like a tree single and at liberty
and brotherly like the trees of a forest,
this yearning is ours.
translation by Fuat Engin
DAVET
Dörtnala gelip Uzak Asya'dan
Akdeniz'e bir kısrak başı gibi uzanan
bu memleket, bizim.
Bilekler kan içinde, dişler kenetli, ayaklar çıplak
ve ipek bir halıya benziyen toprak,
bu cehennem, bu cennet bizim.
Kapansın el kapıları, bir daha açılmasın,
yok edin insanın insana kulluğunu,
bu dâvet bizim....
Yaşamak bir ağaç gibi tek ve hür
ve bir orman gibi kardeşçesine,
bu hasret bizim...

SOME TREES
by John Ashbery
These are amazing: each
Joining a neighbor, as though speech
Were a still performance.
Arranging by chance
To meet as far this morning
From the world as agreeing
With it, you and I
Are suddenly what the trees try
To tell us we are:
That their merely being there
Means something; that soon
We may touch, love, explain.
And glad not to have invented
Some comeliness, we are surrounded:
A silence already filled with noises,
A canvas on which emerges
A chorus of smiles, a winter morning.
Place in a puzzling light, and moving,
Our days put on such reticence
These accents seem their own defense.

The Crystal Gazer
I shall gather myself into my self again,
I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
I shall fuse them into a polished crystal ball
Where I can see the moon and the flashing sun.
I Shall sit like a sibyl, hour after hour intent.
Watching the future come and the present go -
And the little shifting pictures of people rushing
In tiny self-importance to and fro.
It's a short poem by Sara Teasdale..

"The lamb" by William Blake ve Türkçe tercümesi
The Lamb
Little lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life, and bid thee feed
By the stream and o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, woolly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice?
Little lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Little lamb, I'll tell thee,
Little lamb, I'll tell thee:
He is called by thy name,
For He calls Himself a Lamb.
He is meek, and He is mild;
He became a little child.
I a child, and thou a lamb,
We are called by His name.
Little lamb, God bless thee!
Little lamb, God bless thee!
William BLAKE
Kuzu
Kim yarattı seni ey küçük kuzu?
Ey küçük kuzu,seni kim doğurdu?
Kim yaşam verdi sana
Irmak kıyılarında,çayırlarda;
Bu güzel giysiyi sana kim ördü?
Bu yumuşacık,bu bembeyaz yünü;
Kime borçlusun o tatlı sesini?
Sevince boğarsın bütün vadiyi
Kim yarattı seni ey küçük kuzu?
Ey küçük kuzu,seni kim doğurdu?
Ey küçük kuzu,söyleyeyim sana,
Ey küçük kuzu,söyleyeyim sana;
'Kuzu' senin gibi onun ismi de,
O da bu ismi vermiş kendisine.
O da sevgi dolu,o da mütevazı,
O da bizim gibi çocuk yürekli.
Ben bir çocuğum,sen de bir kuzu
Senin ismin kuzu,benim ismim kuzu
Kutsasın küçük kuzu seni tanrı!
Kutsasın küçük kuzu tanrı seni!

The Rainy Day
The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the moldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.
My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the moldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The Rhodora
On being asked, whence is the flower.
In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,
I found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,
Spreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,
To please the desert and the sluggish brook.
The purple petals fallen in the pool
Made the black water with their beauty gay;
Here might the red-bird come his plumes to cool,
And court the flower that cheapens his array.
Rhodora! if the sages ask thee why
This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,
Tell them, dear, that, if eyes were made for seeing,
Then beauty is its own excuse for Being;
Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
I never thought to ask; I never knew;
But in my simple ignorance suppose
The self-same power that brought me there, brought you.
Ralp Waldo Emerson

"The Tiger" by William Blake ve Türkçe tercümesi
The Tiger
Tiger! Tiger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
Tiger! Tiger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
William BLAKE
Kaplan
Kaplan,kaplan,ışl ışıll yanan
Gecenin ormanlarında.
Hangi ölümsüz el ya da göz
Senin biçiminin o korkunç düzenini kurabildi?
Hangi uzak derinliklerde ya da göklerde
Tutuştu gözlerinin ateşi
Hangi kanatla yükselmeyi göze aldı?
Hangi el ateşi yakalamaya cüret etti?
Ve hangi omuz ,hangi sanat,
Seninle yüreğinin kaslarını bükebildi?
Ve yüreğin atmaya başlayınca,
Hangi dehşetli el?Hangi dehşetli ayak?
Çekiç neydi?Zincir neydi?
Hangi fırındaydı senin beynin?
Örs neydi?Hangi güçlü el
Ölüm veren korkuları avucuna alabildi?
Yıldızlar mızraklarını aşağı atıp,
Gökyüzünü gözya?larıyla sulayınca
Yarattığına bakıp gülümsedi mi?
Kuzuyu yaratan mı yarattı seni?
Kaplan,kaplan,ışıll ışıl yanan
Gecenin ormanlarında.
Hangi ölümsüz el ya da göz
Senin biçiminin o korkunç düzenini kurabildi?

Years Have Passed Since Splitting Up - Türkçe Tercümeli
YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE SPLITTING UP
Years have passed since splitting up, who knows where you are?
I could do anything to see you and hear your voice
Your jetblack eyes, your wavy hair are unforgettable
Never think you’ve been forgotten, you’re always on my mind without being forgotten.
Your memory had stayed somewhere deep in my heart
The oppressive years had pulled you away from me
Noone has said “I love you” except you
Noone has known our love except us
I am left alone and our love has become a song
I have been thinking of you with this song.

AYRILALI YILLAR OLDU
Ayrılalı yıllar oldu, şimdi sen kimbilir nerelerdesin?
Seni görebilmek için, sesini duyabilmek için neler vermezdim
Simsiyah gözlerini, dalga dalga saçlarını unutmak mümkün değil
Unutuldum sanma, her zaman aklımdasın unutulmuş değilsin.
Kalbimin bir köşesinde hatıran kalmış
O zalim yıllar seni benden çekip almış
Bana senden başkası seviyorum demedi
Aşkımızı bizden başka kimse bilmedi
Sensiz kaldım aşkımız bir şarkı oldu
Yıllardır ben bu şarkıyla seni anarım.
